Bolts Drop Final Game of Road Trip: TB 2 - TOR 3

The Lightning finished their Canadian swing on a bit of a low note Tuesday evening losing to the Maple Leafs 3-2 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. The Lightning got on the board at 2:24 in first on a power play goal from Brad Richards, a hard slapshot from the left point. It was his 24th of the season. The Leafs answered at 11:34 in the first on a goal from Chad Kilger. The Lightning were back in front at 4:36 in the 2nd shorthanded as Dan Boyle drove to the net and fired a wrister past Raycroft, the shorty was his 16th of the year. The Leafs answered late in the second, tying it on a nifty goal by Mats Sundin. "All four lines played really good tonight," Sundin said. "Great support from the fans; the building was electric. Except for the first five or 10 minutes, we looked like the better team out there." The game winning goal came in the third off the stick of Nik Antropov who was fed a pass from behind the net by Sundin. Antropov directed the puck off his backhand just past the left toe of Marc Denis to give the Leafs the game winning goal. "We let them forecheck us," Richards said. "They kept us deep in our zone. They played like a desperate hockey team. We couldn't stop them." The loss, the Bolts fourth in the last seven games, leaves them two points behind Atlanta for the Southeast lead. The Lightning will now head home to play the Eastern Conference leading Buffalo Sabres Friday night.
