Round 1 Prediction: Lightning in 6

I know I am in the minority (except for ESPN) picking the Bolts to win this series. Jersey has the great Martin Brodeur and home ice, so am I crazy or what? I don't think so, my wife may disagree, but I digress. Aside from Brodeur what does Jersey bring to the table? Not much. They are the lowest scoring team to make the playoffs and have their top players, Gionta, Gomez, Elias and Madden just coming back off injury. Durability is a question with these guys. Brodeur could put this team on his back and carry them to the promised land, but I doubt it. He will have to face a barrage of shots night after night from Marty, Vinny and the gang who have beaten Brodeur and the Devils in Jersey both times this season, and are 3-1 against hem overall. Holmqvist has had success against the Devils this season: 2-1 with a 1.30 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage. The Lightning are good away from home having gone 22-15-4 this season. And you can't discount having veteran leadership that has been there and done it. It won't be easy , but I think the Bolts will take one up in Jersey and 3 at home. I say Lighting in 6, you can take that one to the bank.

The Lightning has NJ's number this year. We've shown that they can be beaten at home or away. Homer is solid against them. Hopefully the playoff firing causes a breakup of team unity, unlike the last time that this happened and they won the cup. The only thing that I'm afraid of is our goalie getting the jitters and Torts switching them up. He has got to let his starter get comfortable. I am just as interested in the other series. If by some miracle the Islanders win and Pittsburgh wins, I don't see why we can't go to the championship.

You Bolts fans gotta wise up. You guys backed into the playoffs. You got pounded by a crappy Panthers team when the division was on the line. Meanwhile, the Devils basically won out, going 6-1-1 in the last 8 games. With the exception of a meaningless shootout loss at the end of the season, the Devs are coming into the playoffs ready to go. Marty is all the edge the Devs will need to dispatch the Bolts and move on to Round 2.

Hey Jersey, yous guys gots no chance. Marty's back isn't big enough to carry that sorry excuse for a team. Our golf courses are getting ready for your boys.

Hey congratulations on your great finish Devils fan. But I kind of agree with your GM who pretty much told the world that you ain’t got what it takes to finish out. I would imagine that we will do to you in 6 games what we have done to you in 3 of 4 during the regular season – namely embarrass you at home and away. But I like your philosophy – let it all ride on the goalie. If you can’t score, that’s what you have to do. LIGTNING in 6.

Devils eat high scoring teams for breakfast bolts fans. We came into the playoffs beating more firepower than the bolts have in Ottawa and at home v. the Pens. We won 32 1-goal games this year and we're just getting warmed up. Tampa Bay shouldn't even have a hockey team - you can't grow no good ice down in Florida!!!

You might not have heard - the Southeast Division got a pretty good recipe for ice in 2004, and we haven't given up that recipe since. Marty's gonna get scored on more often than his siter-in-law.
