Meet Your New Bolts: Pt. 1 - Mike Smith (G)

As the dust from today's trades settles, everyone will want to know just who the guys are that are coming in. This is the first installment of "Meet Your New Bolts."

Goalie Mike Smith has been said to be a #1 in waiting. He was a 5th round pick by the Stars in 2001. He is a young 25 year old native of Kingston, On who stands 6'3" and weighs in at 211 lbs. In the past two seasons with Dallas, he has 44 wins to 24 losses. He has about a 2.3 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Word is that the guy is a great puck handler. He has a great ability to clear the puck, which as we all know, the Bolts could use. Last season he was named to the NHL's All-Rookie team.

Smith has experienced some good success with the Stars. Early in February, Smith got the start against the Anaheim Ducks and registered 32 saves, and earned a shutout as Dallas went on to win the game 1-0. Since that game, the Stars used a two goalie system and Smith's stock rose.

He will be asked to step into the Bolts #1 spot and lead the way in net for the Lightning.
